It really is such a gift to be able to capture the innocence of childhood and know that a family is going to treasure these little snippets of time.

Anastasia and Izze’s wedding was a culturally infused event that honoured her Greek heritage and Izze’s Turkish heritage .  Anastasia’s vision for a feminine and romantic wedding was centred around the beautiful wedding dress that she designed herself.  The dress featured soft latte ruffles and an intricately hand sewn pale pink organza and lace bodice encrusted with crystals and beads. It was simply breathtaking!!!

Anastasia got ready at the Grand Hyatt Sydney with her room having the most amazing views of the Sydney Opera House, she then took a water taxi to her ceremony and reception location on the other side of Sydney Harbour.  The ceremony took place on the edge of the cliff at Sergeants Mess at Chowder Bay with the spectacular Sydney skyline in the distance.  A saxophone player serenaded the congregation as Anastasia walked down the isle and once again as the couple departed the ceremony, it was so beautiful.

Izze’s and Anastasia’s Greek and Turkish backgrounds were honoured during the reception with traditional Drummers and Bouzouki Players entertaining the guests as the Bridal Party entered the Reception.  The Bride and Groom then went straight into traditional Greek and Arabic dancing which delighted the guests who were made up of a mixture of Greek, Arabic and Australian backgrounds.  The entire evening was filled with a festive vibe and was an absolute pleasure to photograph.

All three kids were delightful and we were blessed with gorgeous light and weather. It’s never easy getting 2 year old boys to stay still but the upside is the extra work out you get means you can have an ice cream at the end of the shoot!  LOL.

I decided to show the session in only black and white today, while I adore beautiful colours and glistening golden light I’m also really drawn to classic black and white images.  In fact so much so that I created an entire wall in my home just of our family portraits printed in black and white and framed in white timber frames!

Shane and Angela wanted to have some very relaxed and casual portraits taken at a local orange orchard along the Hawkesbury River. As we walked around the property the smell of orange blossoms filled the air and made the morning even more romantic. But my favourite spot that we stopped at was a gorgeous arbour filled with scented wisteria, it was like something out of a Monet painting and I was in photographers heaven!

First up, this adorable family of 8 whom I shot back in *cough cough* August.  The day we did this shoot it was unseasonably hot and windy, like 30 degrees in winter hot! Literally.  I’ve photographed these adorable kiddos and their parents before but in that time they had welcomed another beautiful little boy into their family and wanted to update their portrait albums again.

We spent a few hours at Balmoral Beach, one of my all time favourite shoot locations, which also happened to be where we met up last time we did their family portraits. This time Damian and Malinda wanted to capture their kids a-la-natural, having fun and just being themselves.  We ran, we jumped, we climbed and we fought the wind with all our might, but mostly we had FUN!

Damian and Malinda, thank you for asking me to capture your beautiful family again, it’s always a pleasure to spend time with such sweet and kind kids.  See you next time xxx

While I’m very excited about building a barn, creating stunning gardens like the ones my grandparents had and growing my own organic vegetables I am most excited about building a gorgeous cottage photography studio that would make Anne Shirley from Green Gables envious.  It really will be a dream come true!

In the mean time it is business as usual.  I will still be travelling all over Sydney, Bowral, The Blue Mountains and The Hunter Valley for family portraits and weddings.  But later in 2013 my clients will have the opportunity to visit the studio for meetings, ordering appointments and of course for photos inside the natural light studio.  There might even be a few furry friends to visit while they are there!

I can’t wait to share all the progress photos and of course start planing the grand studio opening sometime in 2013.  I hope to see you there!
