Growing up I wanted to be just like Anne Shirley from ‘Anne of Green Gables’. I used to ride my horse on a 300 acre farm and imagine I was born in another time. This childhood dream of mine still resonates with me today as it has been my goal to own a farm and call it Avonlea since I was in primary school. I hope that 2012 sees that dream become reality.
In case you were wondering, I’m a farm girl at heart and I feel that reflects in my photography. Give me nature any day over the bright lights of the big cities of the world. Whether it be shooting in a long grassy field bathed in the beauty of the late afternoon sun, or shooting in a orchard of cherry blossoms I am completely inspired by nature.
The great loves in my life are my husband Steven and my children James, Cassandra and Benjamin. Together we have had the best of times, and the most challenging of times but at the end of the day we are one. We are family and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I am continually inspired by my mother who is honestly the most generous soul I’ve ever known. She constantly amazes me in her strength of character and ability to live life with honour, dignity and grace. In times of need my mother is my comforting shoulder and is full of words of wisdom.
I am a lover of all creatures, although not terribly fond of brown snakes! I prefer not to kill spiders, rather set them free. And I regularly fish drowning insects out of my dog’s water bowl. Basically I believe that every soul has it’s purpose in this world and one is not more important than another.
If I wasn’t an photographer I’d be an artist in some way. I’ve experienced the thrill of performing in theatre productions and the terror of piano recitels. I’m a frustrated stylist and an obsessed decorator. I love to paint and loath to do paperwork.
I have only one photo from my childhood with my mother, father and brother. It’s tattered and torn, it has food stains on it and it’s faded, but it’s worth more to me than any other item in my home. To me, that piece of paper is a priceless time capsule, and that is exactly what i strive to create for my clients – priceless pieces of paper.
