Recently I travelled to Wagga, Griffith, Narrandera, Leeton and Harden NSW for some family portrait sessions. I can’t tell you how much I adore shooting in the country, the locations are fantastic and if you are a regular blog reader of mine you will already know that I am very at home in nature, especially rural environments. I also have quite a few family members in the Riverina area of NSW so I enjoy any opportunity to get down that way.
I first met Donna and Harvey at Alysha’s 1st Birthday Party around the time of the floods in Griffith and got chatting with Donna about how their small town of Yenda coped during the crisis. Unfortunately there was widespread damage but Donna and Harvey were lucky that their home stayed above the water. A few weeks later I found myself at their beautiful home taking some family portraits of their three gorgeous boys Thomas, Alex and William.
Donna and Harvey took me out to a beautiful National Park near their home, a place that they frequently take their boys to go picnicking, rock climbing and off road driving. When Donna suggested that we go up to the top of the mountain waaaay off in the distance I thought she was kidding. But up the rocks we did climb, like little mountain goats on the run. Actually, there were mountain goats for real, we could hear them and we could certainly smell them.
I had a lovely time on this family session, the boys were so sweet and fun to photograph and Donna and Harvey were like long lost friends. I couldn’t have asked for a more enjoyable portrait session. I can’t wait to go back to Griffith and Yenda, the locations are amazing and the people are simply wonderful.
